Marina Sirtis, best known for her role as Star Trek’s Deanna Troi has joined the judging panel of the first ever MovieCon in Epsom.
The inaugural MovieCon is produced by Epsom’s Satisfied Eye International Film Festival (SEIFF) and was originally scheduled to take place with a live event in Epsom Town Centre on Father’s Day on 21st June. In response to the current pandemic, the event has now been taken online with a cosplay competition running throughout June and culminating with a live streamed masquerade on 11th July 2020.
Chris Hastings , Artistic Director of SEIFF and the brains behind MovieCon, explained: “Everyone needs a fillip more than ever during these challenging times so we’re really excited to have Marina on board. Much of what we do is about connecting people, promoting Epsom and Surrey and opening the door to an unprecedented world of creativity; and by going online we’re going to broaden that to countless thousands of people around the world. We’ve already had entries from as far afield as US and Australia. But we’d really love to see some local superheroes, particularly, in our under 12 category, they just need to send in a photo or video of themselves in their costume.”
Entries are now open for any local superheroes of any age who want to take part in the masquerade and compete for prizes including hand-crafted combat light-sabres worth over £250 each or get the chance to appear in a film screened at this year’s SEIFF in October.
The closing date for entries is 27th June 2020 with full details at www.satisfiedeye.com/moviecon2020
